Stop entertaining the enemy

Today, I want to offer you a bit of encouragement to those who the devil has been speaking and buffeting. My word for you today is simple. STOP! Stop entertaining the enemy.  Now I don't want it to seem as though I too am kicking you while you are down. That's not my intent. My intent is to show you that you can have victory over the enemy.  Let's look at the account of Jesus in Matthew 4.  

Scriptures of the day

Matthew 4:3-11

³ And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

⁴ But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

⁵ Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

⁶ And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

⁷ Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

⁸ Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

⁹ And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

¹⁰ Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

¹¹ Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

I highlighted in yellow the words of satan. I highlighted the replies of Jesus in red. 

There are two points I want to pull from this passage. 

• Satan attacked Jesus' identity

Saints it is imperative that we understand who we are in Christ. It is sad but so true that even after we receive Christ as our Savior many still have issues with identity. We have problems with self esteem ( I believe this is a major issue and it stems from refusing to allow God to deliver us from past issues and hurts. Covering up and trying to forget does not bring about deliverance.) We also allow people to dictate to us who we are and how we should behave. My friends, this is not a job for people but for the Holy Ghost. Line your life up with the Word of God and you won't go wrong. 

It is only through a personal relationship with Christ that we can unveil the very essence of who we are in God. 

Don't allow the enemy of your soul to attack your identity. You are a child of the Most High! When someone attacks your identity they are after the  basis of the entitlements that your identity offers. Don't forfeit your benefits due because of an identity crisis. Learn who you are and whose you are. You are entitled to everything God said you could have and you are everything that God says you are. 

• Jesus countered every attack with the Word of God!

You hold the key to your victory over the enemy. Speak the Word of God. 

Don't be intimidated by the lies of satan. I don't care what he has been telling you. He is a liar and the father of all lies. You can't win the battle over the attacks of the enemy by emotions or exerting physical force. God's Word is the key to victory. When you begin to fight the enemy with the Word of God you will see a major difference. Stop entertaining the thoughts and lies that he plants in your mind. Immediately put the devil in his place.

James 4:7 reads, Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 

You can resist (withstand, oppose) the devil by using God's Word and he will flee (run away to escape) from you.

My prayer for you today is that you realize who you are and walk in the power and authority of your realization.
