Psalms 150
1 Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.
Numbers 11:1
And when the people complained, it displeased the Lord: and the Lord heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the Lord burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.
"Complain-Remain:Praise-Be Raised" -Joyce Meyer
The above was stated by Joyce Meyer. How profound. I am sure we can all find something to complain about however I am even more positive that we all have something, many things that would prompt us to give God praise.
Complaining about a situation does not change the situation. When you count up the cost you will find to complain is to use energy unproductively. On the other hand, to give God praise does bring about a change. Your situation may not change immediately but losing yourself in praise to God has a way of transforming your mind. You will view your situation differently and your emotional mood will change. God is well deserving of our praise, that's a fact!
In Numbers we see that God was displeased with the people because of their complaining. God was not only displeased but He also took action against them. Is there a situation in your life that you have been complaining about? Have it been getting worse? Well, maybe God is not pleased with the fruit of your lips. The good news is that God is merciful and you can decide to change the negative actions of your mouth today.
There is a scripture that says in everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Whatever situations come your way today, try giving God praise and not complaining. There are many ways to praise God and God loves to receive them all. So, whether you sing, dance, play an instrument or just utter a soft bless the Lord the goal is to offer up praise. God is waiting to hear from you in the midst of your trial. It is easy for us to praise God when things are working the way we desire. But when the pressure of life is consuming your mind, body and spirit will you complain or offer up praise to our deserving God?
I leave you with the quote from Joyce Meyer. Complain-Remain;Praise-Be Raised
